What's Your Cause? What's Your Cause? Promo Video:
World Relief Canada’s Vision is to see people responding, with compassion and justice, to the needs of the poor, oppressed and suffering in ways that bring healing and transformation in the world’s poorest communities. But…
What does that mean to you? To your staff and congregation? And what does healing and transformation look like really?
For years World Relief Sunday has been an opportunity to reflect upon the acute hunger that inflicts suffering on so many children and families around the world. But more than that, it has been a chance for churches to restore hope and provide sustainable solutions to poverty for thousands of families.
But this year’s theme is different.
For many years, you have stood with us in responding to poverty, hunger and pain. And for that we are deeply grateful. But this year we want to do something different. Instead of talking about the people in need, we want to talk to the people who help – specifically, you and your church.
This year we are asking the question:
“What’s Your Cause?”
In a world filled with so much injustice, what is your cause? Take a moment and consider what you truly care about and why.
- Is it acute hunger and malnutrition causing 15 million children to die of starvation each year?
- Is it crippling poverty that drives the sex trade and human slavery?
- Is it providing families with clean water and sanitation?
- Is it empowering women?
- Is it the HIV/AIDS pandemic?
- Is it ensuring children have a chance for education?
- Is it offering entrepreneurs micro-loans?
This year, before the offering on World Relief Sunday, we invite you to talk to your board of elders, talk to your congregation, talk to your small groups, talk to your youth groups, talk to your sunday school classes, and pray together.
Discuss these issues. Decide what your cause is. And then respond.
