Growing Projects
A Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB) Growing Project happens when someone provides a field and then a group of farmers takes on the task of jointly producing a crop on that field. The group will approach different farm supply outlets, grain elevators, agricultural chemical and fertilizer companies to obtain free services. The farmers choose a field or part of a field to be used, the type of crop and who will provide the labour and the equipment to perform each required operation. As fall approaches the group will choose a day to harvest the crop. The crop is then delivered and the proceeds are directed to WRCanada through the CFGB. This method usually involves actual farmers who can contribute labour, expertise, crop production costs and or equipment. For more information visit www.foodgrainsbank.ca/growing_projects.aspx -
